ABOUT

Elinor Fahrman is an illustrator and DJ. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, she has lived in London since she was 19. She went there on holiday when she was 14 with her mum and fell in love with it. It was not perfect like Stockholm was, and London was disorganised; she loved the cacophony of it. It seemed like a complete jungle to her, it was freer and more exciting.

Joe Rush, a London based sculptor and founder of the Mutoid Waste Company once said, ‘I would love to see the world through your eyes, because you obviously see things, normal, plain things with greater life, more life than other people’. She grew up in an ordered world and so finds fascination and beauty in disorder.

Her main motivation is to not look at things which are commonly agreed to be beautiful by the masses, her attention focuses instead on neglected and discarded things, giving life to inanimate objects. Whilst her work as a DJ has taken her all over the world, she always travels with a sketch book, and these travels have been a powerful influence in creating an eclectic body of work. Her illustration style is self-described as ‘wonky’, but her line is always strong, creating work that is magical and vibrant.

Her work has been commissioned by advertising companies, record companies set designers and magazines as well as being displayed in galleries across London, Japan and Sweden. In 2019 she published her first children’s book in Sweden.
